MAN launches Crafter-based electric bus

MAN will be releasing an electric modification to its Volkswagen Crafter based bus. The eco-version will be named MAN eTGE and will have specifications like the already-launched Crafter. A 100 kW (136 hp) electric motor and a maximum torque of 290 Nm are available for the drive. These metrics must be sufficient for urban areas for which the machine is designed. Its maximum speed is 90 km / h.

The tank battery is charged at 80 percent for 45 minutes from a 40-kilo-station or 100 percent in less than 5.5 hours. If a standard 220 volt home contact is used, full charging takes 9 hours. According to MAN, which is a company under the VW Group's head, the battery will lose only 15 percent of its capacity for 10 years and 2000 charge cycles. The battery itself, placed in the floor, is distributed in replaceable modules with 6 or 12 cells. The first copies of the model will cost about 140 000 leva and will be standard wheelbase. These are for markets in Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, Norway and the Netherlands. MAN eTGE will compete with Mercedes eSprinter, Iveco Daily Electric and Renault Master ZE - a segment in which competition will grow more and more.
