Volvo XC40: the safest car under the new Euro NCAP criteria

The new Volvo XC40 has been awarded the maximum 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating. So the X40 ranks among its larger"brothers"of the 60's and 90's as one of the safest cars on the road.

The Euro NCAP tests in 2018 are the toughest so far, including new, more stringent safety system tests, including bicycle detection technology with automatic brake application and belt conveyor tracking. The HS40 has achieved the best overall performance of all vehicles tested under the new Euro NCAP rules. "The new Volvo XC40 is one of the safest cars on the market,"said Malin Eckholm, manager of the Volvo Cars Safety Center.

"Its standard equipment includes more safety technology than any other compact SUV that helps the driver to avoid hitting, to keep track of the lane and to reduce the negative consequences of an accidental off-road trip."

All Volvo cars tested, which are currently on sale, have a 5-star rating in the reports of the independent Euro NCAP. Last year, the HS60 was the car with the best overall test performance and was named the safest SUV in the segment, earning the Euro NCAP Best in Class title. The same award was awarded to the HS90 in 2015.
