Just in time for the 20th anniversary of the appearance of the first Audi TT, the brand with the four rings of the emblem"grind"the character of its sports model: from Audi have made TT's design even more expressive, the performance of the road has become even better, and serial equipment - richer. Together with the Audi-oriented virtual cockpit, the refreshed model has received the Audi drive select system, the automatic control of the lights and wipers, heated exterior mirrors, as well as the multifunctional plus steering wheel that allows the infotainment system and the voice control to be commanded entirely by the steering wheel. Serial is also the illuminated Bluetooth USB port for wireless connectivity to external mobile devices.
At the front, the singleframe company's grille features a three-dimensional safety net. Even with the base version, large side air ducts highlight the wide stand of the car.
At the rear, the horizontal lines give the Audi TT additional visual width. Under the outer tank cap in the classic TT design, there is no additional limiter in front of the throttle, so the driver can refuel directly into the tank - another reference to classic sports models. At the customer's request, the lights are available with LED or Matrix LED technology. Dynamic turn signals give a stylistic accent.
The all-new optional S line outfit further emphasizes Audi TT's sportiness. The package includes a front splitter, vertical air ducts, a front grille in titanium black, specific side sills with extra features, and a sports tailgate on the rear. The latter includes a wider diffuser as well as vertical ventilation openings with three vertical slats located under the rear lights.
The TT Coupé and TT Roadster have a body length of 4.19 meters. Both body versions feature short overhangs and have a diagonal distance of 2.51 meters. The TT comes in standard 17-inch wheels, and Audi Sport and Audi Sport wheels with 18, 19 and 20 inches in diameter are available as an option. The palette of available colors is complemented by three new designs: cosmos blue, pulse orange and turbo blue (S line only).
For the new TT Audi, it offers gasoline engines with different power levels coupled with a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox. In both transmission versions, the short gear ratios of the low gears provide dynamic acceleration, while the long gear ratio of the highest gear reduces the speed. All engines are standard equipped with a particulate filter.
Confident sporty character: chassis and quattro-drive
The new Audi TT delivers dynamic and extremely precise steering. If the customer stops choosing the S line sports package or the Audi magnetic ride suspension, the clearance is reduced by ten millimeters. Other key highlights include the progressive steering, the four-pole rear suspension and the ESC electronic stability system. The selective torque direction to each wheel is activated by fast cornering and, if necessary, improves driveability through targeted braking impulses to the in-wheel cornering wheel.
Driver Oriented: Cockpit and Assist Systems
The authentic character of a sports car is also emphasized by a driver-oriented interior with clearly defined lines. The filigree dashboard with its shape resembles a wing of an airplane; round ventilation openings with integrated control resemble small turbines - another classic TT-detail.
The Audi TT has standard sports seats with integrated headrests. As an option, S-sports seats (standard in sports package S line) with pneumatic, adjustable side supports are available. The luggage compartment of the 2 + 2 seats is located under the long rear hatch and has a capacity of 305 liters - the Roadster version is 280 liters.
The Audi virtual cockpit's 12.3-inch screen displays a variety of data and readings. The driver can choose between two main modes: in the classic view, the main focus is on the speedometer and the tachometer, while in the"Infotainment"mode, the navigation system displays the foreground. The optional sports display displays power, torque and g-acceleration data.
The MMI control terminal on the center console is limited to exactly six buttons. The top-of-the-line MMI Navigation plus with MMI touch integrates a touchpad on the upper surface of the rotating and pushing regulator, which recognizes handwriting symbols and allows features such as zoom. The voice control system is able to recognize multiple phrases from everyday speech.
Audi connect using the high-speed standard LTE allows the use of multiple Online-services on-board the car. The Audi smartphone interface connects your smartphone with the car's system and allows the playback of different data via USB directly to the Audi virtual cockpit. Hi-quality HiFi solutions are made by Bang & Olufsen Sound System specialists. The amplifier of the top speaker system has a power output of 680 watts and the number of its channels reaches 14. The interior sounds from a total of twelve speakers, including two center speakers and two bass boxes.
Driver assistance systems fully follow TT's philosophy: they unload the driver to the point where his attention stays focused entirely on the road. The assortment extends from an Audi side assist walk assistant, an Audi active lane assist belt guider, and a traffic recognition function, to a car parking assist with the perimeter around the vehicle and a camera for reverse.
Classics in the genre: TT Roadster with Textile Roof
Like all other Audi models, the TT Roadster also has a textile roof that can be ordered in black or gray on request. The textile gourd is of exceptionally good quality and offers optimal sound insulation. With a weight of 39 pounds, it is very lightweight and, moreover, it's hardly a place in the cargo compartment. Serial electric control of the mechanism opens and closes the rack within about ten seconds, this being possible at a speed of up to 50 km / h.
The new Audi TT will be at European brand sales representatives in the last four months of 2018, and the start of orders will be set as late as September. The TT Coupé prices for the German market start at around 35,000 euros. The TT Roadster started at around € 37,500.
