The noble DS brand of the French concern PSA has steadily changed its SUV range. The DS 3, which is currently a chic small car, will come in the future with a fashion off-road vision and will receive the Crossback to the name. The goal of the French is clear: they want to compete with Audi Q2 and Mini Countryman.
Now the patents of the future model have leaked: the small SUV generally reminds the DS 7 Crossback remarkably. Especially the hindquarters"quote"with its chrome-plated leeway between the narrow stops designing the first SUVs of the young brand. The"shark blade"behind the B-column is inherited from the current DS 3. The darkened roof supports create the feeling that it is raised in the air. It seems that the French manufacturers are currently true of fashion to put upright daytime running lights under the headlamps, as evidenced by the DS 3 Crossback. One could think that the small SUV was crying. The radiator grille does not hide surprises and is known from the DS 7 Crossback. The interior is also reminiscent of this model. In DS 3, however, the ventilation nozzles are integrated in the door trim and are square in shape. In other words, everything is in the typical diamond shape. The main focus of the dashboard is the large touchscreen, while the combined instrument in front of the driver is entirely digital.
The Peugeot 2008 will be used as a base for the DS 3 Crossback. the CMP small car platform, which also serves Citroën C3 Aircross and Opel Crossland X. The engines will probably be a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder diesel with an SCR catalytic converter and a petrol engine with a particulate filter. The base does not provide 4x4 - even the larger hybrid models with an electric rear axle. In the future there will be a"clean"electric version capable of driving 450 km in full - but at the earliest by the end of 2020. The DS 3 Crossback will be presented at the Paris Motor Show (October 2-14, 2018) and will be on market in early 2019.
